Most Expensive Films Ever Made

About This Dataset

Most Expensive Films Ever Made
Production budgets are estimates: studios rarely publish them, and the figures that circulate usually exclude marketing, which can cost as much again. This chart ranks films by estimated production cost in millions of US dollars, unadjusted for inflation.
Analysis

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) is the most expensive film ever made at an estimated $536 million, ahead of Jurassic World Dominion on $531 million. 12 of these 13 films were released in 2011 or later, and the median release year is 2022. The 13 films here cost $5,333 million between them. These are nominal figures, so older productions are undervalued against modern ones - the inflation-adjusted ranking on this site puts a different order on the same films.
