Counting where the world's biggest churches actually stand shows which countries built at scale. This chart counts entries on the list of largest church buildings by country, including only countries with three or more; 28 countries with one or two entries are not shown.

Analysis

The United Kingdom has the most with 39 of the world's largest church buildings, ahead of the United States on 17. The 15 countries shown account for 125 of the 161 buildings on the full list, with the remainder spread across 28 more countries holding one or two each. By denomination the full list is led by Catholic (72) and Anglican (41). The ranking tracks where large churches were historically built rather than present-day population: several entries are small countries, and several of the world's most populous countries do not appear at all.
