The 12 churches here enclose 164,697 square metres between them, and St. Peter's Basilica alone accounts for 16% of that. These are buildings from very different centuries: the list mixes Renaissance basilicas with twentieth-century cathedrals, and the smallest entry shown, Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, still covers 8,318 square metres - larger than most football pitches.
