Metro Systems With the Most Stations 2026
Station counts for the largest rapid-transit networks in the world, as listed in September 2026. Stations joined by a paid transfer are counted once, so an interchange served by three lines still counts as one station. Light rail, monorail and commuter rail lines are excluded from every system here.
Analysis
New York City Subway has 424 stations, 9 more than Shanghai Metro with 415. 8 of the 12 systems are in China, and they hold 2,703 of the 4,058 stations counted here. The networks span 272 to 424 stations. Outside Asia only New York City, Paris and London appear.
