Health Expenditure per Capita by Country, 2000-2023
About This Dataset
Health Expenditure per Capita by Country, 2000-2023The United States spent 13,473 dollars per person on health in 2023, nearly three times the 4,549 dollars it spent in 2000 and more than double the next highest country, Germany at 6,395. The spread across this group is extreme: US spending is about 159 times India total of 85 dollars per person. China shows the fastest growth of the group, from 43 to 763 dollars per person, a rise of almost eighteen times, with Russia next at more than ten times. Japan is the caution for this measure: its total fell from 4,844 dollars in 2021 to 3,638 in 2023. Because the series is converted at market exchange rates, a weaker currency lowers the dollar figure on its own.
