This is the more complete recent year: FAO covers 187 countries for 2022 against 176 for 2023, and Dominica, the world leader, has no 2023 figure at all. Tropical geography dominates completely, with Caribbean states taking five of the ten places through Dominica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Kitts and Nevis. Guyana's 324.2 and Papua New Guinea's 216.2 extend the pattern to South America and the Pacific. Uganda at 215.9 is the only African entry, driven by bananas and plantains as staple foods.
