About This Dataset
CAF Champions League Titles by African RegionNorth Africa's UNAF zone leads overwhelmingly with 37 titles, three times more than Central Africa's UNIFFAC on 12 and West Africa's WAFU on 10. This single chart captures the central imbalance of African club football: a region of just five countries has won more than the rest of the continent combined. Central Africa's 12 rest heavily on DR Congo, and West Africa's 10 are largely historical, won by Hafia FC and Asante Kotoko in earlier decades. Southern Africa's COSAFA have just three despite containing South Africa, the continent's wealthiest football market. East Africa's CECAFA zone have never won the competition at all, the only region with none.
