About This Dataset
Copa Libertadores Titles by CountryBrazil and Argentina are deadlocked on 25 titles each, an exact tie unmatched in any major continental competition, and together they hold 50 of the trophies awarded. Uruguay are a distant third on eight, almost all won by Penarol and Nacional, a remarkable return for a country of barely three million people. Below the top three the competition has been nearly closed: Colombia and Paraguay have three each, while Chile and Ecuador have managed just one apiece. The two giants achieve their totals differently, as Argentina's 25 are concentrated in a few dominant clubs led by Independiente's seven, while Brazil's are spread across many. Mexico, Peru and Bolivia have reached finals but never won.
