Copa Libertadores Titles by Club
This chart ranks clubs by titles won in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition, founded in 1960. It is the continent's equivalent of the UEFA Champions League.
About This Dataset
Copa Libertadores Titles by ClubIndependiente lead with seven titles and hold a record unmatched anywhere in world football: they have never lost a Libertadores final, winning all seven they contested. Boca Juniors follow on six and Penarol on five, meaning Argentina's two giants and Uruguay's Penarol account for 18 titles. Argentine clubs are unusually well represented, with Independiente, Boca Juniors, River Plate and Estudiantes all in the top six. Estudiantes are notable for winning three of their four consecutively between 1968 and 1970. Brazil's strength is spread rather than concentrated: Flamengo, Palmeiras, Sao Paulo and Santos each hold three or four titles, so no single Brazilian club dominates the way Independiente do in Argentina.
