This chart ranks Spanish cities by the number of top-flight league titles won by clubs based there since 1929. Titles from all clubs in a city are combined.
About This Dataset
Spanish Football Titles by CityMadrid leads with 47 titles, drawn from Real Madrid's 36 and Atletico Madrid's 11, ahead of Barcelona on 29, all of which come from a single club. Between them the two cities hold 76 of Spain's championships, leaving just 19 for the rest of the country. Madrid is the deeper football city by this measure, being the only one with two clubs that have won the league more than ten times. Beyond the big two the picture thins dramatically: Bilbao has eight and Valencia six, while San Sebastian, Seville and A Coruna have two or fewer. Only seven Spanish cities have ever produced a league champion in almost a century of competition.
