Genoa won nine of the first 27 Italian championships and led the all-time table for 60 straight years, from 1898 until 1957. They have not won a title since 1924, and they are still fourth on this list a century later.
Juventus took the lead in 1958 and have never given it back. They now have 36 titles - five in a row in the 1930s, and nine in a row from 2012 to 2020, the longest winning run in Italian football.
The real race is behind them. Inter Milan and AC Milan have swapped second place 15 times since 1901. Milan led as recently as 2019; Inter's 2025-26 title, their 21st, puts them two clear.
Only 16 clubs have ever been champions of Italy. Bologna, Pro Vercelli and Torino have seven each, Napoli four (two of them under Diego Maradona in 1987 and 1990), and Cagliari, Hellas Verona, Sampdoria, Casale and Novese one each.
Some seasons have no champion, and they are shown here as flat lines rather than guesses. There was no championship during the First World War (1916-1919) or at the end of the Second (1944-1945); the 1926-27 title was stripped from Torino and never reassigned; and the 2004-05 title was revoked from Juventus and left unassigned after the Calciopoli scandal, while 2005-06 was awarded to Inter. In 1921-22 two rival federations each crowned a champion, so Pro Vercelli and Novese both count that year. Inter competed as Ambrosiana-Inter from 1930 to 1945.
