Countries ranked by total installed onshore and offshore wind power capacity in 2025, measured in gigawatts according to IRENA Renewable Capacity Statistics and Global Wind Energy Council annual report. China dominates global wind energy deployment with approximately 520 GW of installed capacity — more than triple that of the United States and the product of sustained state-directed investment in wind farms across the Inner Mongolian steppe, the coastal provinces of Jiangsu and Guangdong, and a growing fleet of offshore wind turbines in the Yellow and East China Seas. China also manufactures over 60% of the world's wind turbines through domestic champions like Goldwind, Mingyang, and CSSC Haizhuang, giving it both the installation and supply chain advantages that have made it the unchallenged leader in renewable energy deployment capacity.
