Chinese tourists were the world's biggest spenders on outbound tourism before the pandemic — contributing over $250 billion annually to global tourism economies. The recovery of Chinese outbound tourism post-2023 has been eagerly monitored by destination countries across Asia, Europe, and Australia whose hospitality sectors were heavily dependent on Chinese visitor spending.
