Norway's Lærdal Tunnel is the world's longest road tunnel at 24.5 km, connecting the towns of Lærdal and Aurland through the mountains of western Norway. It was designed with three large mountain caverns and special lighting to combat the psychological strain of driving through such a long enclosed space.
