Industrial Robot Installations Worldwide by Year
About This Dataset
Industrial Robot Installations Worldwide by Year
New industrial robots installed in factories worldwide each year, as estimated by the International Federation of Robotics, counted from 2012 onward because the source carries no figure for 2011. These are annual installations, not the stock in service: the operational stock passed 4.6 million units at the end of 2024, because robots keep working for years after they are installed.
Analysis
Annual installations grew from 159,346 units in 2012 to 542,076 in 2024, a 3.4-fold increase. The peak year is 2022 at 552,946 units. 2 of the 12 year-on-year changes were declines, the steepest being 2019 (-49,031). 2024 sits 0.1% above 2023.
