Heaviest Animals in the World
About This Dataset
Heaviest Animals in the World
The heaviest living animal species on Earth ranked by average adult body weight in metric tonnes. The blue whale is not only the heaviest animal alive today but the heaviest animal known to have ever existed on Earth — an adult blue whale can weigh up to 200 tonnes, heavier than any dinosaur ever measured.
Analysis
Blue Whale heads the table on 150, ahead of North Pacific Right Whale (100) and Sperm Whale (45) in Average Adult Weight (Tonnes). 149.1 separates the highest figure (150) from the lowest (0.95). First and second are separated by 50, so the leader sits inside the field rather than apart from it. Only 2 of the 8 reach even half the leader's figure (75 or more).
