About This Dataset
Most-Liked Instagram Posts 2026Lionel Messi's 2022 World Cup celebration leads with 74.6 million likes and remains the most-liked post across all social media, not just Instagram. Messi appears three times in the top ten, more than any other account, with two further World Cup trophy posts at 53.4 and 40.9 million. The world record egg photograph sits second at 60.5 million, a deliberate 2019 stunt that still outranks every celebrity post except Messi's. A clear structural shift is visible: six of the ten entries are reels from little-known creators posted between 2025 and 2026, suggesting Instagram's algorithm now rewards short video from unknown accounts as readily as it rewards global celebrity.
