About This Dataset
Africa Cup of Nations Titles by CountryEgypt lead with seven titles, ahead of Cameroon on five and Ghana on four, and their dominance mirrors the club game where Egyptian sides also lead Africa. Egypt's record is unusually concentrated in bursts, with three consecutive wins between 2006 and 2010. The tournament is considerably more open than its European or South American equivalents, with eleven nations having won at least one title and North, West and Central Africa all strongly represented. Nigeria and Ivory Coast follow on three each. The single-title winners include two of the great stories in African football, Zambia's emotional 2012 victory and Senegal's first title in 2021, achieved despite both nations having long been considered among the continent's strongest sides.
