Copa América Titles by Country
This chart ranks countries by titles won in the Copa América, the South American national team championship and the oldest international continental football tournament, first played in 1916.
About This Dataset
Copa América Titles by CountryArgentina lead with 16 titles, just one clear of Uruguay on 15, a rivalry so close it has persisted for over a century. Brazil are a distant third on nine, a striking result given they are the only five-time world champions, showing that World Cup success and continental dominance are very different things. Uruguay's 15 are extraordinary for a country of barely three million people and the highest per-capita haul in international football. Below the big three the tournament has been almost closed: Paraguay, Chile and Peru have two each and Colombia and Bolivia one apiece. Argentina's recent titles in 2021 and 2024 ended a 28-year drought stretching back to 1993.
