About This Dataset
French Ligue 1 Titles by ClubParis Saint-Germain lead with 14 titles, ahead of Saint-Etienne on 10 and Marseille on nine, but the shape of this list is unusual for a major European league. France is by far the most evenly spread of the big five: eleven clubs have won at least two titles and six clubs sit between six and nine, a competitive depth that Spain, Italy and Germany cannot match. PSG's lead is also the narrowest of any dominant club in Europe, worth just four titles over second place, compared with Bayern Munich's 26-title cushion in Germany. Saint-Etienne's 10 are almost entirely historic, won between 1957 and 1981, while most of PSG's have come since 2013.
