About This Dataset
Spotify's Most-Streamed Artist of the Year, by Annual StreamsThe winning total grew roughly thirty-fold in eleven years, from Ed Sheeran's 0.86 billion streams in 2014 to Taylor Swift's 26.6 billion in 2024. Growth was steepest between 2021 and 2023, when the annual leader jumped from 9.1 billion to 26.1 billion, nearly tripling in two years as Spotify's subscriber base and listening hours expanded. Only five artists have ever topped the year: Bad Bunny leads with four wins, followed by Drake with three, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift with two each, and Post Malone with one. Two years broke the upward trend, 2019 falling to 6.5 billion from 8.2 billion, and 2025 dropping to 19.8 billion from the 2024 peak, the largest single-year decline in the series.
