Only three films have led this chart in 24 years - Titanic, Avatar and Avengers: Endgame - but the rest of the top ten never stops moving: 37 different films broke into it between 2004 and 2026. The closest moment came at the end of 2019, when Avengers: Endgame led Avatar by $7.5 million ($2,797.5M against $2,790.0M); Avatar's 2021 re-release in China erased that and pushed it to $2.85 billion. As of September 2026 Avatar leads on $2.92B, ahead of Avengers: Endgame ($2.80B) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day ($2.33B). Ne Zha 2 is the only non-English-language film to reach the top ten in the whole 24 years.
